Sean Kingsbury

Where are you from, where have you lived, and where do you live now?

I grew up in Schenectady NY and I currently still live in Schenectady.

Where have you worked in your professional career and what did you do in those roles?

I am currently still in school I have started my career at ITS.

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?

Not too sure if these are exactly hidden, I enjoy boating, wake surfing, snowmobiling, and skiing.

What is your favorite holiday?

The 4th of July.

What kind of music do you like, and what was the best concert you’ve attended?

I mostly listen to county, and rock my favorite artist is Cody Johnson, the best concert I have been to would be def Leppard at SPAC.

What is your favorite movie and why?

My favorite movie is the Iron Giant because the story line reminded me of myself as a kid. It shows my wonder to explore.

What are you most passionate about in your personal life? Professional life?

I am most passionate about boating because my boat used to belong to my grandfather, and he passed away spring of 2024. In my professional life I am most passionate about my work in the machine shop here at ITS, there is always a new challenge to overcome.

How long have you been working in your field?

I have been working for about 4 years here at ITS.

Describe your job in three sentences.

My job here at ITS is to make sure that the equipment is running smoothly and without issues. I get to make fixturing, install new equipment, and perform testing on various samples. It always makes the days exciting, I could be machining a part in the morning and by the  afternoon I might be doing a quick fix for an engineer on the floor to get a test up and running.

How does your education connect to your professional career?

I am currently still enrolled in classes at Hudson Valley in the evening to complete my degree in Electrical and construction maintenance. I currently use the knowledge that I have learned in class and apply it to various types of equipment here at ITS.

If you weren’t doing what you do today, what other job would you have?

I think if I wasn’t at the job I am today I would have gotten a job at machine shop.

If you were to tell one person “Thank You” for helping me become the person I am today, who would it be and what did they do?

I would choose my grandfather because he taught me almost everything I know about mechanics, and how to always push to understand how things work and why. “If you don’t understand how it works, then how can you fix it?”

Are you a member of any professional organizations?

I am a member of the Boy Scouts of America organization, once an eagle scout always an eagle scout.

What have you always wanted to do and have you done it yet?

I have always wanted to take a trip out west and along the way camp in all the national parks.
