What is Compression Testing?
As part of the proof load testing services offered by ITS, compression testing is a method used to establish the compressive force or crush-resistance of a material.
Compression tests also help to determine the ability of the material to recover after a specified compressive force is applied over a defined timeframe.
Additionally, the test is used to determine how the specimen will behave under load pressure.
During the test, the maximum stress a material or component can sustain over a period of time is determined.
Constant pressure or progressive stress can both be used to determine the crush-resistance of a specimen.
Break detection can be defined depending on the type of material or the component that is being tested. A load limit or deflection limit is used when performing the test to a specified limit.
