Meet the Team: Sean Kingsbury
Name and Title:
Sean Kingsbury, Facilities/Maintenance Tech
What are your responsibilities at ITS?
I am responsible for the maintenance of all the equipment in our test lab as well as the grounds of the building. In addition to making sure everything is working up to our high standards, I do performance testing as needed and help with any machine work that needs to be completed.
When did you join ITS?
I joined ITS about three years ago and have been learning and enjoying the experience ever since joining the team.
What made you decide to join ITS?
I was going to school to be an engineer when I was offered a unique chance to come to work at ITS and complete my education. After I started working here, I changed roles and became the facilities tech, which has given me the opportunity to expand my skill set.
How’s your work experience been at ITS?
It has been a really good experience so far. The team has helped me immensely in my career. There’s always someone willing to teach and mentor you. I’ve learned a lot from my peers and appreciate the fact that people like Lou, Jay and Matt, just to name a few, have taken the time to teach me about the wide range of testing we do here.
I’m now excited to go back to school and complete a facilities program called electrical construction and maintenance, so the decision to join ITS has been a good one.
What do you like most about working at ITS?
The innovative nature of the testing and the work we take on means that’s every day there’s something new and I love that challenge. I also really appreciate how I’m allowed to be involved in everything, whether it is facilities work, testing, or machining there’s always something new and interesting to tackle.
What is your background?
This is one of the first steps in my career, but I’ve already had a varied work background, including spending time working for a tree service company, in the parts department at an auto parts store, and washing boats in the summer. I’ve also been a lifeguard (I’m first aid certified) and I enjoy small engine repair. I’m also an Eagle Scout.
What are the some of the fun non-work things you do with the team at ITS?
Free lunch Fridays are a great perk and a way to relax and spend time with coworkers. ITS is really like a big family, the comradery is great, and people really do look out for one another.
Would you recommend ITS as a place to work?
I would absolutely recommend ITS to anyone looking for a career. This company is focused on its customers and truly takes care of the people that work here.
What do you do in your free time?
In my free time I’m always on the go. In the summer I enjoy boating on Sacandaga Lake and being outside with friends and family. In the winter I ride snowmobiles, including taking trips north to places like Speculator. Plus, I’ve always got a few small garage projects going.
