The Evolution of Innovative Testing Solutions – A Look Back at 20 Years

The ITS story began in 2004 after the Materials Characterization Laboratory (MCL) closed and former management and personnel branched out to start ITS. It began as a small operation, with just two engineers on staff and seven pieces of testing equipment in a 2,000-square-foot facility in Scotia, New York.

February 1, 2005

On February 1, 2005, ITS opened its doors for the first time. Its engineering staff, which included leaders across various disciplines, expanded along with the range of services the company could provide. From offering standard ASTM protocols to custom product testing solutions, ITS quickly garnered a stellar reputation in evaluating component and material properties and mechanical testing services.

2008

In 2008, ITS earned accreditation from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). This credential from the only independent, nonprofit, globally recognized body of its kind in the United States demonstrates the company’s competence and quality. Because the recipient must meet stringent international standards, it ensures the highest quality and reliable data. The distinction showcased ITS’ exceptional services and drove an increase in interest and business.

2010

Although the company had already expanded its facility, by 2008, it outgrew its 2,000-square-feet operating space. In 2009, ITS located its current 22,500-square-foot building in Schenectady, NY, and the company began renovations in 2010. The move enabled ITS to expand its offerings and bring in more equipment to continue innovating and serving its clients with robust testing procedures. ITS officially relocated in the summer of 2011 after completing the necessary renovations.

In 2013, the company invested in a laboratory information management system (LIMS) to maintain its commitment to keeping up with the latest technology. This innovative software solution enabled the team to advance its project management capabilities. The LIMS system aids in data management, workflow management, and overcoming regulatory challenges, smoothing the way for ITS to deliver consistent value to its clients.
